Species conservation and environmental construction supervision at the HeideHub multi-terminal hub in Schleswig-Holstein

Husum,

Environmental safety for the energy transition: We ensure that the new electricity distribution centre is built in accordance with nature conservation and species protection requirements.

The HeideHub near Heide in Dithmarschen, Schleswig-Holstein, is Germany’s first multi-terminal hub and a key project for the future of the European energy transition. It collects offshore wind power and feeds it into both the regional and national extra-high voltage grids.

Implementing a project of this scale in an ecologically sensitive region requires the highest level of environmental responsibility and expertise in species conservation.

BioConsult SH has been entrusted with a wide range of environmental construction supervision tasks. We ensure that this important infrastructure project is implemented in accordance with nature conservation requirements through:

  • Comprehensive species protection: Special construction scheduling and targeted deterrent measures ensure the protection of birds breeding in open-land habitats, reed beds and wetlands during the sensitive breeding periods. Further measures protect amphibians and fish.
  • Soil protection: Soil science supervision during construction ensures the sustainable use of resources.
  • Habitat management and water protection: We ensure the separation and protection of habitats and woodland along the entire length of the project site.

Through environmental construction supervision, we ensure that this major energy transition project is implemented in harmony with the site’s nature conservation requirements.
