Nature conservation and the associated biodiversity are an integral part of our work – in our expert assessments and in research projects.

We provide scientific support for nature conservation projects. We develop concepts for nature reserves and other nature conservation areas or support the implementation of eco-accounts. We develop methods to ensure an environmentally friendly further development of renewable energies.

We carry out extensive monitoring projects on land, on the coast and at sea as part of national and international monitoring programmes or in connection with construction projects.

Research projects relevant to nature conservation on land and at sea are another important part of our work. We carry out research projects with an application focus on infrastructure and wind energy projects, but are also involved in basic research.

We plan and carry out research projects and publish the results in specialist journals where possible.
