The visit focused on the presentation of new approaches and technologies that help to combine the further development of offshore wind energy with the protection and restoration of marine ecosystems.
As one of the partners, BioConsult SH presented the use of its long-range drones and their potential for ecological monitoring in the offshore area.
Earlier this year, the technology was successfully deployed as part of the first BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) flight using a drone to a Dutch offshore wind farm outside the 12-nautical-mile zone. This represents an important step towards integrating drone-based survey methods into future offshore environmental monitoring.
The visit gave BioConsult SH the opportunity to present experiences to date, current developments and future applications and to discuss how innovative monitoring technologies can contribute to a better understanding of the North Sea’s ecosystems.
BioConsult SH would like to thank Ecowende and De Rijke Noordzee for the opportunity to present its own developments in the field of drone-based environmental monitoring and to be part of this special event.
